4 the Community

4thecommunity’s (4tc) stated mission is in harmony with the parish mission i.e. ”… to reduce social poverty and social exclusion, and make our community stronger by building resident’s confidence, knowledge, skills, and strengthening local support networks. We have a three pronged approach to educate individuals, assist families, and strengthen communities….” Groups include the guitar workshop, Yoga, Art and Craft group for homeless and vulnerable people, Rhyl Men’s Shed, Street Games for children and teenagers, vegetable and flower growing and meals based on locally grown food, parent and toddler groups, our publication poverty times, youth justice group, teaching group for English as a foreign language, parent and toddler groups and an IT programme called digital Rhyl. We have recently started a Tenants peer support and information group. We have organised four outdoor Fun Days through the summer.

Big Lottery Heritage funding has been received enabling 4tc to take on a project based on the idea of “loving the part of the earth we live on”, an archaeology and history project involving all parish and 4tc groups, a healthy mix of people from inside and outside the parish.

We host Community Development Cymru, who have a two day a week worker for homeless people, based at the parish centre (community house). We also host 2 weekly sessions for people in recovery from alcohol or drug addiction led by Dr Lee Hogan from Bangor University.
