Building bridges in Africa

Bill Hebner dropped in yesterday to chat to Fr Charles. As most will know, Bill is a local Baptist minister and an amazing builder of community centres, schools and orphanages for developing country communities. Every year he takes dozens of young people to South Africa or other African countries and in three or four days completes a building.  The operation has now evolved and twenty buildings are currently in progress, helped now by local people who have learned how to build.  The attached photos show Johannesburg people, who have freezing winters, with much-prized blankets knitted by our prolific St Mary’s knitting group.  The group hasnt met so much recently, especially after the sad death of Mrs Mary Tilt last year, but Bill wished to say thanks and show with these photos how valued their work has been.  Blankets have been given out in Mwanza, Tanzania,  Mtwapa, Kenya, Nairobi, Kenya, Capetown, South Africa, and Johannesburg and Soweto in South Africa.
