Parishioners who help with fundraising for the parish, for example, the Summer and Christmas Fayres have been discussing a change of direction over a long period. Contributions of sales items for the Fayres, and participation, have dropped significantly over recent years, as has the income. The great energy and thought put in to these can be better used towards wonderful events like the Afternoon Tea (see above) which was a great community event but also a good fundraiser.
And it is now intended to bypass Christmas Fayres for now, and pursue other events. The youth-based PowerTheatre, who sometimes use the church facilities will offer a musical with Carols on Saturday evening 21st Dec. They will generously donate half the proceeds to the parish.
