The Welsh Government has announced plans to remove the parental right of withdrawal from RE and RSE and to change the name of RE to Religion and Worldviews. The Catholic Bishops and Education Service are very concerned about both aspects of the proposals which are currently out for consultation. We believe a move away from parents as the primary educators to the State as the primary educator is hugely problematic. We are also concerned that these proposals will result in the State defining what is taught in Catholic RE.
