There will be a meeting with Hugo, coordinator with TCC on Wednesday 20th November in the parish house to explore how we can support the campaign below, given the increasing problem in our Christ the Word School with child hunger.:

Stop School Hunger campaign

Launch Monday 18th November, 11.30am – 12.30pm (arrivals from 11am) Ysgol y Grango, Rhosllanerchrugog, Wrexham. LL14 1EL.
In 2017 the experience of TCC community leaders in secondary schools highlighted that some of the poorest pupils were not getting enough to eat during their school day. Young people who weren’t able to have any breakfast at home were spending some of their free school meals allowance on breakfast when they arrived at school hungry. This meant they then couldn’t afford the full, nutritionally balanced lunch the free school meals allowance is designed to provide.
Since then, TCC has surveyed hundreds of pupils and staff in other secondary schools, which confirmed that this is a widespread issue, most likely affecting young people in schools across the country. You are invited to the official launch of TCC’s campaign to Stop School Hunger. You’ll hear from those affected, about TCC’s research into the issue, and our proposed solution. The event is free, but please book your place in advance. If you’re not able to attend but would like to hear more about the campaign and how you can be involved, you can sign up for campaign updates here, or get in touch with us directly
