I’ve engaged some homeless people and others to restore our raised vegetable beds in the parish house backyard and also beside the church. All of these have now been planted with potatoes, carrots, broad beans, onions, broccoli and other vegetables. A few other parishioners have also started to grow food, having realised that the UK is only 50% self-sufficient in food production. Given the crisis, it makes sense to begin to develop local interest and energy towards growing our own food. We also hope to provide some excellent recipes for tasty food.
