Buckingham Palace has nominated Mrs Sheila Johnson to receive the Maundy gifts at St Asaph Cathedral on Maundy Thursday morning, 2 April 2026.    The Royal Maundy Service is an ancient Christian tradition dating back to at least the fourth century and, in England, to 1213. At this service, the reigning monarch distributes specially minted coins to older members of the community in recognition of their outstanding service to the Church and to local life.   We are delighted and honoured that a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption, Rhyl, is among this year’s recipients. Warmest congratulations to Mrs Sheila Johnson.
